The Duncanville Church of Christ had its first official assembly on the fourth Sunday of February 1949. Ira Bristow preached and Woodrow & Rhelma Gleeson were among the charter members. Twenty-three new members joined the church the first year.
Continued growth led to the purchase of land on the corner of Center and Walnut, where an auditorium and ten classrooms were constructed in 1954. In 1963 the Duncanville church appointed its first shepherds: Roy Britt, I.T. Cawthon, Woodrow Gleeson, and Earl Foster. The following year five men were chosen to serve as deacons. In 1976 twenty-eight acreas were purchased on Danieldale Road and our present facility was completed in 1987. Presently about 800 people make up the Duncanville Church of Christ family. While we have grown in size and changed some in appearance, our mission is the same: to know God, grow in faith, serve others, and share Jesus Christ. In August of 2007 we celebrated our 20th anniversary here at this location (402 West Danieldale Road).
